How it Started
Like many Utahans, I was blessed to grow up in a home with a piano. Throughout my growing up years, I came to understand that our family piano had an important impact on my life. Nearly every memory I have of growing up is accompanied by music.
In my teenage years, I noticed the family piano was horrendously out of tune. It was detrimental to my musical ear. After not being able to bear it any longer, I decided to figure out how to tune the piano by myself.
After countless hours of research, hard work, and plenty of trial and error, I successfully tuned my family piano.
Since 2011, I have worked for multiple piano stores and Brigham Young University, and have worked alongside with and learned so much from some of the best piano technicians in the world. Among whom are Rick Baldassin, Keith Kopp, Torben Garlin, Werner Albrecht, and many others. I am a Registered Piano Technician with the Piano Technicians Guild. Additionally, I am a C. Bechstein Factory Trained Concert Technician. Suffice it to say, I have the knowledge and experience to best help customers fall in love with their piano again.
Being an expert piano technician gives me a unique perspective on entry level, mid-grade, and high end professional pianos. I understand pianos inside and out better than any sales person in the industry. This knowledge led me to become Utah's exclusive dealer of C. Bechstein.
On a personal note, I married my wife in 2015. We have four beautiful sons. Some of my other hobbies aside from music include biking, juggling, and exploring nature with my family. I served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Jakarta, Indonesia. I have a degree in Middle Eastern Studies and Arabic.

How it's Going
Since 2011, MJ Pianos has helped thousands of Utah families reconnect and rekindle the love of music in their homes; just like Matt did for his family. In 2021, MJ Pianos opened its first storefront in beautiful American Fork to offer customers quality grand and upright piano products and top-notch services.

As the founder and driving force, Matthew is the vision and drive behind everything at MJ Pianos. His unwavering passion for excellence and meticulous attention to detail has established him as a trusted authority in the piano industry.

Stacey Beadle
Stacey absolutely loves everything about the piano industry. She feels blessed to work with the piano technicians, the amazing pianos themselves, the extraordinary piano teachers in the community, and the families who own and play the piano.

Matthew Putnam
Matthew is a highly skilled piano technician with 9+ years of experience in Utah and Colorado. Known for his attention to detail and artful approach, he's regarded as one of the region's best. Matthew resides in Mapleton with his wife and daughter.

Jake Olster
Since childhood, music has consumed Jake's life. He began playing piano at age five and hasn't missed a day since. A professional musician and composer since his teenage years, he's had incredible musical opportunities. Jake's fervent love for pianos drives his excitement to showcase top brands at MJ Pianos.

Hailey Mayle
Hailey has played piano for over 20 years. She is passionate about piano and music because of how it can touch people in a way nothing else can. She is currently pursuing a degree in Music Therapy to be able to help heal others with music.
PIANO TECHNICIAN
Jacob Putnam
Jacob, with 25+ years of experience, services pianos for concert-level performance. He's a certified QRS player system installer and a Registered Piano Technician with the Piano Technicians Guild. Outside work, he enjoys family time, 3D printing, and woodworking.
